Toddler Bed Thoughts

Thursday, September 26, 2013

Lou has officially outgrown the crib. She climbed out a couple weeks ago, and she was very proud of it. We woke up to her standing beside our bed at 3am saying, "I climb crib!" You did, sweetie. You did.

I thought we had until Christmas, at the earliest, so I'm a little caught off guard! I originally planned to do a twin bed, and I've been collecting twin headboards over the last two years. Yes, I have three (technically four) headboards - one cane, a pair of bamboo, and one rattan. But, I have since realized that our small bedrooms mean that a twin bed would take out any play space she might have her in room. A toddler bed it is.

I love the look of the traditional Jenny Lind Toddler Bed from Land of Nod, but it's $400 and won't be available until November! Yikes.

And, of course Restoration Hardware has a stunning toddler bed, the Tate, but it's also $400. That's more than I'd like to spend for a temporary solution. But, it sure is pretty, isn't it?

I like the idea of a daybed so it can become a little sofa in her next (hopefully bigger) bedroom, or maybe a playroom down the road.

And then there's the DIY option from Ana White. Isn't it a dead ringer for the Tate bed from Restoration Hardware? Amazing! I'm so impressed by what people build through Ana White.

I have handy aspirations, but let's just say my carpentry skills are limited, at best. Plus, I don't have the tools I need, which means more cost.

So, it looks like I'm going the custom route. I have a great carpenter and I'm working on the design. I'll keep you posted. In the meantime, does anyone thoughts or affordable ideas? (not Ikea because we don't live close to one, though they do have good options)

Rejuvenation Wall Light Sale

Tuesday, September 24, 2013

Here's a PSA folks - Rejuvenation is having a sale on their gorgeous wall lights. I love their classic selection of lights, and I love that you can get them in many different finishes, and often your choice of light shades.

I've been thinking about a new wall light for my kitchen, replacing the sconces in our hall bath, and adding sconces to Lou's big girl room (sniff). I also want to replace our outdoor lights. I need to take advantage of this sale, right?

It's for a limited time. Stress!

New Store

Wednesday, September 18, 2013

Sorry for the silence, I've been busy setting up a new store for Perry Wade. Did you know we have a store? I hope so!

I moved it from a Big Cartel site to Etsy, mostly for the built-in audience. I'd love to hear any thoughts you have about Big Cartel vs. Etsy. Emily and I love to hunt for vintage items, but we only buy high-quality pieces that we would put in our own home. Etsy has a lot of, well, interesting things on it, but it also has some great finds.

You can find it all of this at our store on Etsy. I add things, including art, lamp finials, furniture, and home accessories, almost daily so keep checking in on it!
