Kitchen Cabinets and Carrera Marble

Wednesday, November 20, 2013

I get restless with my house. I am constantly repainting, rearranging, and trying new things. My latest thing is that I want to change the paint color on our cabinets. We went with the traditional white kitchen with carrera marble counters when we renovated two years ago.

Well... I'm thinking I want the cabinets to have some color. My whole house has a blue-green scheme with hints of peach throughout. Carrera typically has a blue-green undertone, so you want the cabinet paint color to relate.

There are many options, but how perfect is Benjamin Moore's Fieldstone? Sally Wheat's kitchen that went viral a while back has been stuck in my mind!

Look how great it is in these spaces too:

Now, the only question is whether I should tackle this before or after the holidays...

Closet Thoughts

Tuesday, November 19, 2013

We have a small closet. We moved from a house with a walk-in closet and I miss it terribly. We did the best we could with our new small closet and bought a contraption from the Container Store. It's doing the job for now, but a spacious closet is definitely on the "must have" list for our next house.

I came across this picture of a closet by Pheobe Howard and fell in love.

Good natural lighting, lots of different kinds of storage (drawers, cabinets, etc), multiple sections of hanging areas, and a bench for putting on shoes. Perfect.

This led me to looking through my pinterest closet board to continue the dreaming:

This last one is a favorite. So organized!

Well, Hello.

I've been extremely MIA. I've been traveling a lot and very busy. Plus, we are now expecting our second child and I spent the first three months trying to make it through each day without falling over from exhaustion or succumbing to nausea. I'm beginning to get our lives back in order.

Yesterday, I spent some time uploading some new items to the shop. As you will see, I went a little grape crazy in a vintage store, but aren't they gorgeous? It truly is the accessories and details that bring a home together. Of course, that can be said for anything.

Don't you love the way they look in my brass pedestal bowl? (p.s. A pedestal bowl is one of the most versatile pieces you can own - display item, serving piece, vessel for flowers, etc.)

Check out that lovely pink patina. Gorgeous.

This could be a painting!

Sometimes I find things that are hard to give up. These grapes fall under that category. Also under that category is this pair of lamps. I died when I found them and thought about keeping them for our future playroom, but I don't know when that playroom will happen. I love anything striped, and the colors in these lamps make them very playful and fun.

I can see them in a kid's room, in a colorful living room, at the beach, or in a room that's taking itself too seriously.

Anyway, I have a lot of things I want to share over the next few weeks, so don't give up on me. I'm baaack!
